Investment in new projects is helping to drive growth within the amusement industry in the Middle East and parts of Africa, said Warehouse of Games’ Yuhanis Nawasreh. The Dubai-based company’s sales and development manager explained that the last two years has seen the market “pick up” in the region. “I believe now that the Middle East is the only region that is picking up again,” Nawasreh told InterGame at this week’s DEAL show. “There are a lot projects coming up in Saudi, Doha in Qatar, Jordan and even in Africa, in places like Sudan.” Not all the Middle East is experiencing this level of growth he said, but the UAE, Saudi, Jordan and Qatar are all presently stable and seeing a significant level of investment. Interestingly, the new projects in Sudan are being modeled on those found in Dubai, for example, with operators selecting the best games and prizes, he said. A full report from the 2013 DEAL show in Dubai will appear in the forthcoming June issue of InterGame.
